He had to get as far away as possible. The night was dark and cold, and energon leaked from his many wounds. His spark ached for the loss he had suffered, but the shadows that pursued him would not rest till they had their quarry. Flying past another seemingly endless nebula, the battered jet stumbled upon a solar system he had not seen before. His engines the only thing breaking the silence of the black void filled with so many planets and stars, the jet hurtled through the chain of planets and selected his new home and hopefully, sanctuary......Earth

                Autobot Base on Planet Earth

The blue mech stared up at the berth bottom above his head. It was morning, and he should be doing-

''Volts!! Where the frag are you!?''

The blue mech groaned and rolled over, offlining his optics as the door to the quarters hissed open.

''Volts! Get off your aft! We have a job to do ya know!'' A larger, dark emerald mech came in, fist on his hips as he glared at Volts.

Sighing, Volts dimly onlined his optics. ''Go away, Slipshot. I just wanna be left alone.''

''Like pit!'' Slipshot replied, grabbing Volts by the arm and hauling him to his feet. ''No way am I getting in trouble for you again.'' He growled.

Volts scowled up the larger mech, static sparking down his receptors. ''Let go of me, Slip-up.''

Optic twitching at the name, a low growl rumbled in the autobot's throat as he dropped the blue mech and turned around to leave. ''Next time, I'm sending Mayday after you.''

Volts snorted, picking himself up from the floor and following. ''Is that a threat? What, you want her to annoy me till I finally decide to get up?''

''It's even more amusing that she likes you too. Makes her 'job' easier.'' The emerald mech replied, quickly walking down the hall with Volts close behind him.

Volts frowned. ''I don't think it's a good idea to use someone's emotions like that....You're basically leading her on that I like her as well.''

''Don't you? You two would make a cute couple.'' Slipshot grinned as Volts lightly punched him in the shoulder.

''Ha. Ha. Very funny. And what about you? And...what's his name?'' Volts grinned, looking up at Slipshot.

Said mech smirked. ''Vortex. And better than you'll ever know. It's been going well, now that we share the same quarters too.''

Volts laughed as he shook his head. ''You sure know how to pick 'em.''

''Pull up the scanners. I want a reading. Now.'' Barked a tall, golden and crimson mech as he watched his analyzers search through various code strings and data. ''An unknown energy signature has made it's way  through this solar system. We don't know if it's a hostile or friendly. And how do we fix that?'' The commander's sharp gaze landed on each of his lieutenants.

''Sir, the subject has entered Earth's atmosphere.''

The mech frowned, shaking his head. ''Very well. Send out a team to-''

''I'll go.'' A voice echoed through the room as production paused.

From the corner's shadows another mech appeared, his ebony and crimson plating glinting in the computer screens' light. Door wings twitching up, a smirk greeted the commander.

''Go ahead and send me out, Commander.''

Said mech's optics narrowed.

''You are no longer a part of the Autobot forces, Omicron. It's not your place to deal in with Autobot affairs.''

Omicron stepped forward, glancing over the room and then back to the Commander. ''Oh, but you noble Autobots wouldn't want to get intertwined in an...unfortunate family affair, would you?'' He smirked, canting his head to the side.

The Commander watched the now Decepticon evenly. ''State your business.''

Volts kicked a small pebble across the abandoned street, once again, he noted, following Slipshot to a new post. This one was on the outskirts of the city, far away from anyone else. He hated it. He never was a loner and never will be one for that matter. He enjoyed company, just not crowds and crowds of company. Sighing to himself, Volts raised his gaze to stare at Slipshot's door panels.

''It should be pretty quiet this time a-year.'' Slipshot was saying, gesturing with one flourish to the surrounding landscape.

''Yeah, quiet like the graves...'' Volts commented, frowning as he took a moment to assess the area.

''Don't look at it that way, Volts. Least you'll get a break from Mayday.'' Slipshot tried to reason.

''Mmm....'' Volts frowned, shaking his head slightly as he stepped forward. ''Fine. Where will you and the others be?''

''Back at the city for patrol. No one's gonna be at the base for the rest of the day, and some bots are being transferred out. Won't be so loud in the pit hole after today.'' The emerald mech chuckled, smiling.

Stopping, Slipshot turned to look down at Volts. ''Comm. me if you need anything.'' And with that, transformed and drove off.

Watching the camaro drive off, Volts receptors twitched. Sighing heavily, the mech began his journey around the area. For the most part, it was abandoned, something the Decepticons loved about an area. Made moving in easier. There was also a lot of alleys, perfect for getting the jump on an unsuspecting bot. Since it had rained heavily the night before, mud also filled the alleys and clogged the drains, mini rivers along the edges of the road sloshing at Volts' feet. The whole place gave the mech chills.

''It's gonna be a long day...''

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Volts had suspected, the day dragged on slowly, the hours seeming to take days as he sat beneath the roof of a porch, watching the rain that had started to fall make soft -plop- sounds when they reached the pavement. Surveying the area once more, the mech leaned back and laid down, offlining his optics. He was almost to the point where he would slip into stasis when a voice suddenly crackled through his communications link.
//Volts? Hey, Volts, ya there?// Slipshot's voice spoke to him.
Groaning, Volts onlined his optics and placed two digits to his receptor. //Yeah. I am. What's the deal?//
//This just came in from HQ and the big bot. An un- //  The sentence could not be completed as the signal was abruptly lost, static filling in.
Jumping slightly in surprise, the blue mech frowned and tried to regain connection. Nothing. Faintly growling in frustration, Volts looked up at the sky. Thunder now rolled through the menacing, ebony clouds as lightning crackled and sparked, lighting the sky up every now-and-then. Watching it entertained Volts. Out of all the bots in the base, he was the only one who would go out during a thunderstorm to watch, no matter how long it lasted. The others often joked about what would happen if they stuck Volts out on the roof, wondering whether or not he would act just like a lightning rod. Those bots usually found themselves paralyzed for the rest of the night.
Just as Volts started to get deeper into his thoughts, a loud sonic boom broke his concentration. The sky seemed to split as a jet broke through the Earth's atmosphere. From his view point, Volts could see smoke trailing from the jets engines and the obvious fact that it wouldn't be landing, it would be crashing. Getting up, the mech calculated the jet's crash site and hurried to meet it there. As he drove along, the impact could be felt through the ground and his tires in vibrations. As he got closer, pieces of buildings were strewn across the road from when the jet had crashed into them, a crater also in the road and splitting the cement. Transforming and following the trail, Volts walked along until he came to the alley where the jet had come to a stop.
The hiss of engines whirling and then dieing broke the silence as rain tapped his plating. Taking a few steps forward, a groan met Volts' receptors. Frowning, the young mech hesitantly called out.
''Who's there?'' He questioned, trying not to slip on the mud.
His reply was a laser fire, barely missing his left arm and taking out a trash can behind him. Stumbling back a few feet and into the right wall, Volts' optics widened.
''Hey now! I'm only here to help.'' Volts stated, frowning and pushing himself off the wall.
Smoke, fog, and rain obscured his view of the crashed jet. What Volts could hear was someone- or something -  struggling to get up. The next thing the mech could see was a dark figure, much taller than him standing up and towering over him. Blazing white optics burned into his own, baby blue optics. The figure only seemed to get larger as objects behind it fanned out, the alley barely wide enough for them to fully extend. Taking a guess from the shape, Volts figured they were wings. Really, really big wings. Taking a surprised step back, static sparked up and down his receptors as Volts held up his servos.
''Wait a moment, I'm not going to hurt you...'' The blue mech spoke quietly, hoping whatever, or whoever, he was dealing with wouldn't lash out at him.
The figure stared down at Volts for a long moment, seeming to consider him. A moment later though the being's optics flickered and then offlined as it collapsed to the ground. Blinking in surprise, Volts quickly recovered and hurried forward and knelt beside the figure. From what he could tell, it was a mech. And he had been right about the wings. Unfortunately, there was so much energon and mud caked on his body that Volts couldn't make out anymore details. Placing a servo on the mech's shoulder, Volts gently shook him.
''Hey....how bad are you hurt?'' Volts asked softly, frowning.
The mech's only response was to groan and attempt to get back on his feet. Blinking, Volts helped him up, wrapping an arm around his waist and draping one arm over his shoulder.
''If you go any where, it's gonna be with me. There's a base not too far from here where we can get you cleaned and patched up. Understand?'' Volts looked up at the mech.
''Mhmm....'' Came the mech's reply, optics still offline.
''I'll take that as a yes.''
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It took a few hours for Volts to half carry, half drag the mech back to base. It didn't help that he was smaller than the mech, and that thought passed through Volts' processor more than once. Deciding to go in through the back door, the mech peeked in. No one. Coast was clear. Repositioning the mech in his arms, Volts walked in through the base and went for the wash racks. Once there, the blue mech propped the other mech against the wall and in a chair while taking a hose from the wall and gathering some cleaning supplies. All the while the mech who had crashed remained for the most part, silent. Sometimes his optics would online, but never when Volts was looking at him. Optics currently offline, they remained off until a steady stream of warm water was showered over him. Optics flaring as well as his wings, the mech lunged at Volts, tackling him to the ground. Dropping the hose, a surprised gasp turned to a grunt when Volts' back hit the ground.

''Wh-who are y-you?'' The mech hissed, optics the same burning white as before.

The blue mech could only cough in response as he attempted to regain his knocked out breathe. Cycling a deep breathe, Volts' optics onlined to stare up at the other mech.

''V-Volts....You?'' He answered.

The mech who had tackled him didn't reply, seeming to pause and rethink his actions. Frowning, the jet's optics dimmed.

''Volts....'' His optics then narrowed. ''Why...did you bring...me here?'' He questioned.

''You're hurt...I saw you crash. I....I couldn't just leave you behind....It's not in my programming.'' Volts answered, receptors twitching from unease. ''Now you answer my question. Who are you?''

The mech scowled and stood up, leaving Volts to pick himself up. Sitting back down on the chair, the mech's wing hung limply at his sides.

''M-My name....My name is S-Skywing...'' He replied quietly, looking worn down and in pain.

Standing back up, Volts stared at the mech with a frown. ''Skywing....Nice to meet you....I think. Anyway, can I continue with my job? Or am I gonna get tackled again?'' He questioned while picking the hose up.

Skywing's didn't even look up at Volts. ''I-I'm...sorry for t-tack-ling you,....Volts....I'm-m a bit...'w-wired', as you would say, right n-now....'' He answered.

Volts frowned but nodded. ''Kay. It's cool.'' Turning on the water again the blue mech aimed the hose at Skywing, removing the mud and energon.

Sitting silently and with his optics offline, Skywing shuddered faintly at the feeling of the warm water flowing over his chassis. He felt numb and especially had a hard time feeling his wings as they remained lax against his back. Vaguely wondering why this Volts wanted to help, Skywing realized after a moment that the water was no longer on him but still running. Dimly onlining his optics, Skywing gazed over at Volts, frowning at his shocked expression.

''What?''

Volts blinked, his optics wide as he continued to stare. ''Y-Your wings....Skywing...They're amazing....'' He spoke breathlessly.

Now that the mud and energon was gone, Volts could identify the colors of Skywing's wings. Mainly silver in color, gold strips covered the top half of each feather and at the main wing supports. Scratches spoiled the plating and it was obvious that some of the metallic feather had been ripped off. Even with the damages though, the wings glinted in the dim lighting of the washing room.

Shaking his head, Volts turned his attention to the owner of the wings. Now almost entirely showered off, Skywing's gold and white plating stood out against the bleak gray walls behind him. His receptors were a whitish silver and in the shape of the top half of his wing, also missing some feathers and decorated with snake-like cracks. Dents littered the mech's frame and ebony scuff marks contaminated the gold and ivory.  Gashes were in Skywing's chest and sides, resembling that of claws marks as well as large bite marks at the spot where Skywing's neck and shoulder connected. All in all, it looked as if he had been mauled by a large, wild, vicious animal. Returning to the mech's face Volts blinked once again when he saw that his optics were no longer a blazing white, but crystal clear blue. Skywing's optics were dim and reflected deep sadness, but also a certain defiance that was like a flame burning in the ocean, unwilling to be smothered.

Receptors twitching, Volts frowned sadly. ''What happened to you?'' He asked softly, turning the hose off and walking over to Skywing.

Watching him come over, Skywing mirrored his frown. ''I...I'd rather not say....It's pretty c-complicated...''

''Hm....Do you have a place to go to? Maybe a base or home?''

''My home....is far away from here. But....It's no longer safe for me there. I must go into hiding. Change my appearance and name....''

Volts' frown deepened as he stole a glance at Skywing's still shining wings. ''Why would you want to hide what you really are? Is...is someone after you or somethin?''

Skywing nodded. ''Yes...''

Volts frowned further as he watched the gold mech for a long moment. Making up his mind, he strode over to the soap and picked up a bottle as well as a rag.

''Okay. So, ya need a new name and appearance. How bout we work on that after you're clean and fixed?'' He said while squirting some of the substance onto the cloth and rubbing it in.

Skywing's optics onlined. '' 'We'? Why....why would you want to help me?''

Volts paused, not answering right away. Truth was, he wasn't even sure why exactly he wanted to help. For Primus' sake, he just met the mech and not in the most pleasant of circumstances not to mention. He knew that, he felt in his spark that it was the right thing to do and so Volts turned to walk the rest of the way back to Skywing and knelt beside him.

''I don't know. The right thing to do.''

Skywing frowned, tensing slightly when Volts began cleaning off his shoulder plating but then relaxing when he realized that the bot was being gentle. ''How do you know? I could be some run away convict and as soon as you're done helping me, I'll offline you.''

Volts didn't look up and continued his work. ''At least I'll have a clean conscious....Besides, it's not so great here anyway. No one to hang out with. Well, at least hanging out and sharing the same interests as me.'' Snorting, Volts rolled his optics. ''All to busy hangin out with their bond mates or dates.'' Frowning as his optics dimmed, Volts went on to clean Skywing's back and wings.

Listening silently, Skywing frowned. ''So...You're lonely then.''

Volts stopped abruptly, looking back at the gold mech and frowning. ''You're right. I don't know a thing about you, other than you obviously had some issues. Don't need to be digging into my life, thank you.''

''I'm sorry. I did not mean to offend you....'' Skywing answered, lowering his head and turning his gaze away.

Staring at him for a long moment, Volts sighed. ''Primus, don't do that, Sky. Now your makin me feel guilty. How about this, let's make a deal. I won't ask you questions about your past and life, and you don't ask me bout mine. Sound good?''

Skywing raised his head, a small, amused smile on his face plate. ''All right, Volts.''

Volts grinned and nodded. ''Alright.'' Setting back to work, it took about two hours before he was happy with how clean Skywing was.

Leading him down the hall once again, the blue mech led the golden one to the base's medical bay. Inside, free berths glinted in the light as they shone down on each one of them. The place looked sterile  enough that you could lick the floor without worrying about getting sick. Glancing about the room, Skywing shifted his gaze to the berth Volts was gesturing to and walked over to it, sitting down on it once he was there.

Walking around the different tables full of medicine and other medical tools, Volts picked up some supplies and walked back over to Skywing. Getting to work right away, the blue barely noticed the golden one watching him clean of his armor, wings perked a little higher than before. However, it didn't take long for Skywing that they weren't the only ones in the room. Tensing, the mech looked over at the door, frowning at the sight of a small blue mech, staring at them with wide optics from behind small spectacles.

''V-Volts! W-Who is-s that?'' The mech stammered, watching Skywing nervously.

Blinking, Volts stood up strait and turned to face the mech.  ''Blueray! I thought now one was going to be back at the base for the rest of the day.'' He said, frowning.

''W-well, the others thought I was a- uh nuisance and told me I'd be a better help here...''

''They really told you that?'' Skywing questioned, his frown deepening at Blueray's nod.

''Okay, well, maybe you can be of some help. Can you help me fix my new friend?'' Volts asked while gesturing with one servo to the gold mech.

''O-oh. Okay.'' Stepping forward, the two mechs started the job of replacing the gold mech's metallic feathers and repairing any damages. Within a few cycles, Skywing was good to go.

Smiling at the blue mechs, Skywing nodded. ''Thank you. Both of you.''

Volts flashed a grin at Skywing as he placed everything back in it's proper home. ''Anytime, Sky. Anytime.''
:meow: I think you can see now how this will most likely play out. :D Got yer bad dude right from the start as wel as an issue needed to be solved. :giggle: Hope you like it peeps. :aww:
